Chitral is impacted by high levels of poverty with most of the population living in remote villages away from larger town and limited access to primary healthcare.

The Sight Relief team visited Chitral, Garam Chashma, Kalash Valley, Drosh and Upper Dir.

We examined 402 patients in 5 days of eye camps in each of the above locations, the response was over whelming, and we realised we needed more optometrists to join us next time. We examined a further 378 patients in Khanpur and Haripur areas.

A total of 780 patients were screened, 465 pairs of glasses were dispensed, 353 eyedrops were given and 63 patients had cataracts which needed surgery. It was a fun and successful trip.
